What is the difference between a line break and a paragraph break?

A line break ends one line and starts the next directly below it. A paragraph break is usually two line breaks, which leaves an empty line between blocks of text. This tool can delete just the empty lines or join every line into one paragraph.

How do I remove line breaks in Word?

Press Ctrl+H to open Find and Replace. Type ^p in Find what for paragraph marks, or ^l for manual line breaks, and type a space in Replace with. Click Replace All. To skip the codes, paste the text here instead.

How do I remove line breaks in Excel?

Select the cells, press Ctrl+H, then press Ctrl+J in the Find what box to enter a line break. Type a space in Replace with and click Replace All. A formula works too: =SUBSTITUTE(A1,CHAR(10)," ").

How do I remove line breaks in Notepad++?

Press Ctrl+H and set Search Mode to Extended. Type \r\n in Find what and a space in Replace with, then click Replace All. Use \n on its own for files saved with Unix line endings.

How do I remove newlines in Python or JavaScript?

In Python, " ".join(text.splitlines()) joins all lines with spaces, while text.strip() only trims newlines at the start and end. In JavaScript, text.replace(/\r?\n/g, " ") does the same job. For one-off text, pasting it here is faster.

Will removing line breaks join my words together?

No. In the join mode, each line break becomes a single space, so the last word of one line and the first word of the next stay apart.

Which mode should I use?
