Image Cropper FAQs

How do I crop a picture?

Upload it, choose a ratio or Freeform, drag the crop box over the part you want and click Crop Image. Then download the new file.

How do I crop a photo on iPhone?

Open it in Photos, tap Edit, then the Crop icon. Drag the corners or tap the ratio button for a preset, then tap Done. You can also crop it here in Safari.

How do I crop an image in Windows?

Open it in the Photos app, click Edit image or press Ctrl + E, choose Crop, drag the handles and save. Paint's Select and Crop tools work too.

Which aspect ratio should I use?

Use 1:1 for profile pictures and square posts, 16:9 for YouTube thumbnails and slides, 4:3 for standard photos and 2:3 for portrait prints and Pinterest pins.

Can I crop to exact pixel dimensions?

This cropper works by ratio and freeform. For exact pixels, crop to the right ratio first, then set the width and height in the Image Resizer.

Does cropping reduce image quality?

Cropping removes the pixels outside the box. What's left keeps its original sharpness, but there are fewer pixels, so avoid enlarging a tiny crop too much.

What's the difference between cropping and resizing?

Cropping cuts away part of the picture. Resizing keeps the whole picture and changes its pixel size. Many images need both: crop first, then resize.

Is the image cropper free?

Yes. It's free with no signup. Files up to 5 MB are supported and deleted after one hour.

Cropped? Size it right.

Set exact dimensions with the Image Resizer or switch formats with the Image Converter.
